Thermae Bath Spa, Bath-UK

Bubble Away Your Toils and Troubles…..

If you’re looking for a weekend retreat with a friend, loved one or partner then the only natural thermal water spa in the UK could be the destination for you. As a frequent visitor to Bath I’m no stranger to the Thermae Spa and its state of the art, contemporary relaxation facility’s. Here are just a few of the reasons that I can’t stay away.

When Oli and I found that we had some extra time together that was unexpected I knew exactly the place for us to go. Having worked in Bath over Christmas for the past few years, my annual visit has become somewhat of a ritual, a seasonal destress that we all need probably more than once a year in most cases.

Split over four floors the Bath spa offers: indoor pools and jacuzzi, steam pods, rainforest shower, rooftop pool, treatment rooms, private bath.

General admission gains you access to levels 1, 3 and 4 for two, three or four hours. Additional Treatments prices vary. Extra value treatment packages are available and generally include 2 hours access to the whole facility worth £34-£37 depending on the day of your visit.

Facilities:

Open-air Rooftop Pool

By day and by night, enjoy spectacular views over the City of Bath and surrounding hills. The naturally warm, mineral-rich waters are enhanced by air seats and bubbling jets.

Minerva Bath

minNamed after the Roman Goddess of Health & Wisdom, this is the largest of the thermal baths. Distinguished by flowing curves and grand columns, the thermal waters are complemented by an invigorating massage jet, whirlpool and lazy river

Aroma Steam Rooms

Breathe in the soothing vapours of the steam rooms, each of which is infused with an aromatic essence such as lotus flower or eucalyptus mint. A central ‘waterfall’ shower, interspersed with fibre ptic lighting, provides a variety of sensations from the lightest misting of water to an invigorating tropical shower.

Springs Café Restaurant

cafe

Here spa users can enjoy delicious meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day and evening. Any food or drinks in the Restaurant are charged to your SmartBand and paid for on exit. Robes should be worn in the Restaurant.

On previous visits I have found the facilities have a really clean finish and are well keep, although sadly on this occasion there were a few disappointing points being that there were some lights out on the roof top pool, so there had been a peppery flood light installed that really impeded the relaxation. In other parts of the spa there were other signs of general ware, such as rust stains and peeling paint.

We have been reassured that some areas of the Spa are undergoing refurbishment in 2016 so hopefully all these minor details will be restored in time for your visit. One welcomed addition was jacuzzi seating in the roof top pool where you can now sit around the outside of the pool still submerged in the thermic waters and feel a sensual bubble massage on your legs and back. Another notable feature is the Smartband that is the key for your locker and also stores your tab if you make any purchases in the cafe, so no need no need to worry about where to put your cash. which is handy because I’m unsure where to put my card in my speedo.

One of my favourite areas is the steam pods and rain forrest shower. There are fore stem pods at different temperatures and aromas theres are frequently changed but I’ve tried: Eucalyptus Mint, Lotus Flower, Menthol and Lavender. Something for all tastes, with the calming light,  I find them super relaxing and once your steamed you can hit the Waterfall shower in the centre of the room. The Waterfall shower provides a variety Seasonal rainfall from the lightest mist of April to an invigorating tropical monsoon shower.

The Bath Spa is a must visit for anyone in the area.

I’ve visited both day and night and always had a great time. Day time visitors can enjoy great views of the city and if you’re more of a night owl then the roof top pool becomes a really romantic spot under the star lit sky. To get the best experience i recommend visiting over twilight but i do warn that depending on the time of year it can get busy over these peak times.
