Veggie Mami, Mong Kok-Hong Kong

Well this is a new one for me as it’s the first time i’ve been to a Vegan restaurant. Having a colleague who is vegan often means we try to find restaurants that can accommodate his specific requirements, but on this occasion I decided to flip it around and go to a restaurant where everything on the menu caters for him. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but my findings left me leaving with a positive outlook on the vegetarian and vegan world.

We found the restaurant using an app called ‘Happy Cow’ it’s designed specifically for vegetarians and vegans. Veggie Mami was one of the restaurants on the list that was close by so being extremely hungry we decided to give it a try.

It’s a very small place, could only seat 10-15 people max I would say. The menu is extremely simple, not in a bad way but the choices are limited. I went for a noodle dish with cloud ear (a type of fungi) and a soy chicken alternative. It really was delicious, and it was hard to tell any difference between normal chicken and the soy chicken that was being served. My colleague has some Veg rolls-they looked lovely, brilliantly displayed and great flavours.

Veggie Mami offers great service and you really can tell that the staff have a love and a care for offering top quality food, with great ingredients that are fresh and crunchy.

Prices were good and the portions were adequate for lunch time. It’s nice to see some healthy options in an area often littered with deep fried, fatty food.

It’s opened my eyes and mind up to the world of food and vegetarian and vegan options. I would certainly visit again when I’m next in the area.
